We embarked on a journey, recently to find Pioneer Cemetery, one of the oldest burial grounds in PEI. However, we soon discovered that there are over 3 Pioneer Cemeteries on the Island. Eventually, we located the right one.

Whether one believes in spirits or not, it is undeniable that Falconwood’s legacy left an imprint not only on the landscape of Prince Edward Island, but in the minds and hearts of those who walked its halls.

In 1868, amidst a time when mental illness was still poorly understood, the Prince Edward Island government opened the Falconwood Asylum to provide care for those deemed mentally ill or “infirm of mind.”

Many guests and staff have reported eerie experiences over the years, leading to speculation that spirits may linger within its walls.
