Hunter's Ale House
In the heart of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, stands Hunter's Ale House—a beloved establishment known for its hearty pub fare, live music, and vibrant atmosphere. Since opening its doors on July 27, 2005, at the corner of Kent and Prince Streets, Hunter's has become a local landmark, offering patrons a place to enjoy great food and entertainment.
Beyond its culinary and musical allure, whispers of unexplained occurrences have woven a tapestry of intrigue around the ale house. Staff and patrons alike have reported eerie experiences: sudden cold drafts without a source, faint whispers when the rooms stood empty, and shadows flickering just beyond the edge of vision. Some say that after the last call, when the din fades and the lights dim, the establishment takes on an otherworldly ambiance, as if unseen eyes are watching, and spectral figures move through the darkened corridors.
In response to these unsettling accounts, the Prince Edward Island Ghost Hunters Society (PEIGHS) conducted an investigation at Hunter's Ale House. Armed with specialized equipment designed to detect paranormal activity, the team embarked on a nocturnal exploration of the premises. Throughout the night, they recorded unexplained fluctuations in temperature, captured faint electronic voice phenomena (EVPs), and noted anomalies on their motion sensors. While their findings were inconclusive, the investigators acknowledged that the ale house possessed an undeniable energy, leaving the door open to the possibility of lingering spirits.
Despite these spectral stories, Hunter's Ale House continues to thrive as a cornerstone of Charlottetown's social scene. Whether drawn by the promise of a delicious meal, the thrill of live music, or the allure of the unknown, patrons find themselves returning to this enigmatic establishment, where the line between the living and the departed seems just a little less distinct.
